Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest
Under the care of the United States Department of Agriculture, the U.S. Forest Service’s mission is to sustain the health, diversity, and productivity of the Nation’s forests and grasslands to meet the needs of the present and future generations. There are a host of forests across the United States and the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest is one of them, spanning the upper northeast corner of Georgia. National Forests are typically less frequented compared to National and State Parks, and oftentimes they feature primitive camping (without electricity and water), though some still offer limited hook-ups. National Forests are great if you want to get off the beaten path and adventure in solitude. The Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest has dozens of camping site experiences, each varying in degrees of separation and ammenities on site. As less frequented destinations, sometimes you have to spend more time researching the campsite requirements and navigating the reservation process, but the effort is rewarded by the picturesque views and peaceful solitude acheived.
